Indivisible Montgomery’s October 28th member meeting featured Jody Rein, Senior Manager, from Indivisible’s Truth Brigade. The Truth Brigade is a project of the national Indivisible.org that harnesses the work of grassroots volunteers who are trained to disrupt misinformation and disinformation online and offline.  Truth Brigade volunteers learn to write and share powerful, personal, and unified messages designed to counteract toxic falsehoods.  This work is very important in light of the fact that we can not depend on the media companies to police themselves.

Jody shared more details about the Truth Brigade:

• Has over 6,400 trained volunteers in every state
• Responsible for over 60,000 disinformation-disrupting messages on Twitter (X) alone
• Works with a team of disinformation experts who closely monitor bad actors and identify disinformation trends that need to be counter-messaged
• Initiates regular Truth Brigade “message campaigns” for members to adopt and tailor for their own use.
